My poll wasnt made to oppress shit. It was simply a poll based on what I saw outside.
I KNEW once I saw some of the posts (Zela's and Slave's, specifically) that the thread would become fucked up. I've been to many boards and know a few people that smoke that would eventually read this thread. They ARENT going to come here and vote for it, however, when they will be the ones.....fuck it.
Everyone knows smoking is bad for your health. Everyone knows that a lot of other things are too.
So why did all this common sense bullshit have to fuck up my thread????

i have yet to vote because of the comments already
posted on this thread. personally, i don't care
to take part in a group intent on oppressing
others simply due to the fact that its what YOU
think is best.
smoking is legal... though highly limited, restricted,
and unhealthy. i think its disgusting to openly
ostracize because of a personal choice.
its like watching *baywatch* soroities giggle
and chide other females for being less than
perfect on a superficial level. its appauling.
now i'm sure that some people can come here and
voice some opinion about X and how someone they
knew experienced X for smoking and blah blah blah....
but again, i must stress that i find the total
population that joins in on this ridiculous
(occasionally subliminal) crusade to condemn
or otherwise persuede smokers completely rude,
out-of-place, and obscene. its like scoffing or
making an open statement that a person whom is
overweight shouldn't indulge in dessert....
but yet, justify this behavior as if you are
doing it 'in the best interests of that person'.
its not your place.
another socially acceptable anti-argument has
been the effects of second-hand smoke upon those
that do not smoke. surely THIS is an area in
which those that smoke, cannot raise a hand in
oppression!

as long as you drive a vehicle, use air conditioning,
create refuse, etc... you are creating just as
great of a public health risk... though, in
comparison, your contribution is much greater
in helping the deaths/health problems of
MILLIONS as opposed to the ... hell, lets say
10 thousand people a smoker may influence.
you can argue that these same effects are not as
direct or do not take effect for years upon
years... whereas smoking, and the effects of
second-hand smoke only take a lifetime....
but basically i'm sick of the fucking witch hunt. i'm sick of the 'higher-than-thou'
attitude of the public when cricifying smokers/smoking...
and turing a blind eye to their own hypocrisy.
i don't really give a fuck if people like this
are sitting on their thrones feeling all upset
about what i'm saying... or wish to retort or
yack on about their public *cause*.... basically
its disgusting, and i'm fed up.
i'm sick of the charade. i'm sick of the fucking
applause that arrogant people get when being
gay and using ploys to discourage the habit...
i've seen the typical slave morality being issued
and the attempts to make smokers feel guilt for
their actions... its fucking disgusting.... and
you should be ashamed.
personally, i don't care for people that drink
all the time. i don't care for the type of
mentality or maturity most of these individuals
carry. i may also feel somewhat concerned about
their habit because i know the effects of drinking
first hand... but regardless, i'm aware that its
a personal choice -- dispite how fucking disgusting
it is to see the public openly encouraging drinking...

i'm deeply offended by the movement to create
some ambience of 'purity' or 'cleanliness' upon
this board due to the topic at hand.
i don't care if a person is doing heroin...

and not some gay strike-card.

well, i can see someone has a chip on their shoulder....
all i have to say in response to that is it is unhealthy, hands down.
also, steve martin summed it up best in one of his stand up acts..

and putting a smoking section in a restaurant (or any public place) is like putting a pissing section in a pool

If Bud goes down, expect many bars to fall too. I remember buying cigs for ONE DOLLAR. Of course they were the cheap brand, but still, I paid $3.96 for a pack today. With that math in mind, a beer is around 3 bucks, if Bud got sued, we'd be looking at around 12 bucks for a beer at a bar. I could kiss my music career goodbye...
As far as the piss in the pool comment,
if you won't let me piss in your pool,
I'm not swimming.
In other word,
businesses work for their cliental.
If they want me to buy their food,
I better be able to have a smoke afterwards.
You could try going to restaurants that don't allow smoking, Burger King, Taco Bell. Maybe the good restaurants might change who they want their cliental to be... doubtful, but it has happened before.
BTW - I hate tree huggers... (I needed that tree for my desk!)
